Free bus transport to pay respects to Kalam at his home town

A Rameswaram-based social worker and activist has offered free bus transport from the CMBT bus terminus in Chennai to Rameswaram for people who want to pay their last respects to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the eleventh President of India, who passed away on Monday.

Abdul Ghani, put up a post on Facebook stating that the buses would leave at 10 a.m. from Chennai and persons interested could contact his team of volunteers.

"We want to ensure that as many people as possible get a chance to pay homage to the great man who has been an inspiration and guiding light, " he said.

He has tied up with Parveen Travels, who have obliged and given him two buses for the same. "Right now, we are receiving requests and contacting as many people as possible to facilitate their travel there. If more requests come in, we are ready to arrange for additional buses," he said.

The team has also arranged stay at two mutts for the persons travelling in Rameswaram.
