Four held; stolen idols recovered

The police have identified culprits who lifted the ancient granite idols of Sri Viswanatha Perumal temple at Poosangudi near here and recovered the idols of Sri Viswanatha Perumal, Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Police said that some miscreants had looted idols from the temple at Poosangudi on August 27, 2013. Inspector Rekha Rani got information that four idol lifters were picked up when they attempted to loot a temple near Peralam.

The interrogation revealed that they had lifted the ancient stone idols from the Poosangudi temple and the police traced the idols to Chennai and recovered them.
