Four fishermen were rescued by a team of Tuticorin Marine Police from a boat that got stranded owing to the engine failure, according to marine police sources here on Wednesday.
The boat was in distress at seven nautical miles north of Tuticorin new harbour in the wee hours. Responding to the distress call through helpline 1093, the marine police located the site and rescued them at 8.30 a.m. The rescued fishermen — V. Arputham (26), K. Johnson (24), J. Kennedy (50) and V. Ashok (17) — were from Threspuram.
