Four fishermen rescued

Four fishermen were rescued by the Keezhayur marine police here in the wee hours of Friday morning, after their boat developed a snag.

Amirtha Selvam (28), Saravanan (20), Uttarapathi (45), Chidambaram (50), all from Akkarapettai had venture for fishing on Thursday afternoon at about 3 p.m., when the engine of their fibre boat developed a snag at 9 nautical miles from Samandhapettai. A distress call to 1093 to control room in Chennai was diverted to Keezhayur marine police, who rescued them.
