Four die as SUV hits roadside tree

Four persons died and five others sustained injuries when the SUV in which they were travelling dashed against a roadside tree at Padiri near Tindivanam on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as Mohan (63) of Anbil near Lalgudi in Tiruchi district, his relatives Ramya (32), Vasantha (39) and Harini (22).

Police said Mohan along with his relatives were returning from Chennai at around 3 p.m. Sasikumar, the car driver lost control of the vehicle that veered to the left and hit a Palmyrah tree.

Mohan, Ramya, Vasantha and Harini died on the spot. The injured identified as Kumari, Lucia (8), Samaya (5) and driver Sasikumar were admitted to the Tindivanam government hospital. A case has been registered.
