Flight services to and from Chennai were affected following a flash strike by a section of employees of Air India.

Indian Airlines flights to Colombo and Singapore were cancelled following the strike, officials said.

Seven domestic flights from various cities including Delhi and Mumbai were delayed due to the strike, they said.

The departure of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to Chennai by Air India flight from Coimbatore was delayed by over two hours, following the late arrival of a flight from Chennai due to the strike. The flight finally took off at 1505 hrs, airport sources said.

Mr. Karunanidhi was in the city for reviewing the developmental works in view of the World Classical Tamil Conference to be held next month and was scheduled to leave by 1300 hrs.
