Five persons were arrested on Friday in connection with the recent murder of a woman at Salaipudhur village near Batlagundu here.
The arrested were Murugan of Kodikalpatti, Kapur and Mujibhur of Dindigul and Chandra and Chitra of Anumantharayankottai.
Police said that Murugan, a mason, of Kodikakalpatti plotted to kill her wife M. Chitra (40). He sought the help of his friend Chandra (43) of Anumantharayankottai near Dindigul. Chandra, along with her friend one Chitra, reportedly hired Kapur, a mason, and his accomplice, Mujibhur, a taxi driver, to kill Chitra.
Kapur and Mujibhur strangulated Chitra to death and threw the body near Theni Highway at Salaipudhur, they added. The police recovered a body from the highway recently. Later, they identified the deceased as M. Chitra.
