Fishermen stage rail roko at Kuzhithurai railway station in Kanyakumari District condemning failure to trace the missing fishermen of the district.

The fishermen's protest at Kuzhithurai railway station was withdrawn after Thursday midnight after the protesters accepted Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan’s assurance that the ongoing search operations to locate the missing fishermen would be intensified in the deep sea.

Though the fishermen were initially reluctant, a few parish priests of the western Kanyakumari district's coastal hamlets, who were also agitating along with the fisherfolk, persuaded the people to withdraw the 13-hour-long agitation that forced the cancellation and partial termination of 7 trains in the Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil section.

Accepting the parish priests' suggestion, the agitation was withdrawn around 12.30 am.
