TIRUCHI

A fire broke out at the operation theatre of the Government Hospital in Musiri on Monday, keeping firefighters on their toes.

Musiri fire station received an alert about the fire around 8.20 a.m. Immediately, a team of firefighters rushed to the spot.

The Fire and Rescue Services personnel said the fire broke out in one of the air-conditioning units at the operation theatre, apparently due to an electric short-circuit.

The operation theatre was engulfed with thick smoke when the firefighters reached the spot. It took about 30 minutes for them to extinguish the fire.

There was no injury to anyone, said the firefighters.
