Fire at jewellery shop

Fire broke out at a jewellery shop located at Pudhari Koundampalayam in Vazhapadi destroying jewellery items on Saturday. Shop owner Madheswaran locked the shop on Friday night and left home.

On Saturday morning, the public found black smoke emanating from the shop and informed the fire and rescue services personnel. The fire was brought under control in half-an-hour. It is said that jewellery items were damaged in the fire and the cost is yet to be ascertained. Officials said that due to wind and heavy rain, power supply was cut off on Friday night and was restored in the area on Saturday. Yethapur police are investigating.
