Family alleges threat by police to withdraw complaint

July 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - SALEM:

Stating that the Mallasamudram police in Namakkal district are threatening them to withdraw a complaint filed against neighbour, members of a family submitted petition to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Salem Range, P. Nagarajan here.

Five members of the family from Gandhi Street at Kottaimedu in Mallasamudram, in their petition, said that they were running power loom at the residence. A closed circuit television camera installed in the top of the nearby house was facing our bathroom and we had been demanding the neighbour to remove it. They said that a petition was submitted to District Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy who directed the Revenue Divisional Officer to conduct an inquiry. The RDO held inquiries and removed the camera. He also directed the police to register a case and initiate action.

The petition said that a complaint was lodged with the Mallasamudram police. But no action had been taken by them. Instead, the police were threatening us to withdraw the complaint, the family members added. Hence, they urged the DIG to initiate action against the police personnel and register a case.
