Collector K.S. Palanisamy advised election officials to ensure all basic facilities including ramps in all polling stations for the convenience of voters. Distribution of booth slips should be completed by October 12.

He was inspecting polling stations at Chinnamanur panchyat union near here on Tuesday.

The officials only should distribute booth slips.

Others should not be engaged in distribution of slips under any circumstances, he cautioned. Distribution of booth slips had already commenced.

Required quantity of ballot papers and other stationery materials meant for polling will be sent to all polling stations in rural areas only after thorough check up at respective panchayat union offices. Officials should monitor poll campaign and all other related activities meticulously in order to prevent poll code violations and to conduct free and fair elections.

Ex-service men

The election office has plans to rope in ex-service men for poll duty.

Call for poll duty

Those interested in poll security duty, should approach the ex-service welfare office with their identity cards and submit applications meant for it on or before October 13 without fail.

He also interacted with voters at Veppampatti village in Chinnamanur union and enquired whether they received the booth slips or not.

The Collector also inspected display of posters with candidates' names and symbols before polling stations and ballot boxes storage room at Krishna Iyer Higher Secondary School and checked vehicles used by candidates for campaign on his way to nearby towns.
