Collector S. Prabakar on Tuesday initiated the Election Commission of India’s National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) in the eight Assembly segments in the district.
The programme aiming to arrive at a totally error-free and authenticated electoral rolls involves linking of EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card) with Aadhaar data of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). The focus will be on improving image quality of electors and correcting errors.
The Collector initiated the exercise in the presence of Corporation Commissioner Mohan, Revenue Divisional Officer Menaka and other senior Revenue Department officials.
The initiative has created scope for voters to voluntarily disclose multiple entries. Collection and feeding of Aadhaar data will be carried out by Electoral Registration Officers.
