Educated women should contribute more for the uplift of the poor and the downtrodden and the overall betterment of society, said C. Joseph Kennedy, Registrar, Karunya University, Coimbatore.

Delivering convocation address at JA College for Women in Periyakulam near here on Friday, he said that educational experience gained by young graduates would reward them throughout their life.

It was the duty of everyone to protect the resources through sustainable development models to create a healthy environment for the next generation. People should leave a wonderful planet for the next generation to live happily. Women were the soul of the country and they should preserve its culture and heritage, he added.

“Education is the key to unlock your potential. Educated persons should strive for national unity and prosperity as the country depends on them for growth and sustainable development of science and technology and economy. Young women should go the extra mile to achieve their dreams. Learning is a continuous process and should not end with getting degrees,” he told the students.

A total of 660 students received their degree certificates. Principal T. Nirmala, secretary P. Helen Chandra and Mother Superior A. Maria Alphonsal were also present.
