With the prices of essential commodities skyrocketing, the All India Democratic Women’s Association (Aidwa) has urged the Centre to increase the number of working days from 100 to 200 and fix the minimum wage at Rs. 300 a day under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The three-day 14 State Conference of the Aidwa began here on Saturday with the participation of its national president Malini Bhattacharya and State leaders.
One of the main resolutions adopted was the effective implementation of the scheme across the country. The conference wanted basic amenities made available at worksites, as 90 per cent of the workers were women.
