People should not forget those who betrayed Tamils living in Sri Lanka, said Vaiko, general secretary of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam said in Tirunelveli on Monday.

Leading a demonstration in front of Tirunelveli railway junction demanding an international investigation into war crimes in Sri Lanka, he said scores of Tamils in Sri Lanka were killed by its military force ruthlessly and hence a fair probe was required.

To bring justice to the Tamils of Sri Lanka, the Centre should insist on launching an international enquiry into the war crimes in the island nation and should not support the Lankan government. The Centre should also endorse the resolution passed by Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for an international enquiry, he demanded.

He said that the Sri Lankan government had planned to set up a domestic enquiry into war crimes and it was not acceptable. The United Nations Human Rights Council should also adopt a resolution seeking international enquiry into war crimes in Sri Lanka. He also demanded a general referendum on formation of an independent Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka.

Criticising the erstwhile DMK regime and the previous Congress government at the Centre, he said that they were also responsible for the killing of Tamils.
