A recent survey conducted by former students of Loyola College across seven wards in the R.K. Nagar constituency found that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had the support of 33% of the people, and independent candidate T.T.V. Dhinakaran (28 %) was ahead of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s candidate E. Madhusudanan (26%).

As many as 1,767 people participated in the survey. The Naam Tamilar Katchi had the support of 2.18% while 1.23% of people supported the Bharatiya Janata Party. Asked whether the impact of money would be felt, those who conducted the suvey said, “Around 3% of the votes may be influenced by money.”

The survey also ranked leaders based on people’s choices. The survey said that people in R.K. Nagar felt that DMK working president M.K. Stalin would solve the problems in the constituency. The second most popular leader was Mr. Dhinakaran, while Kamal Haasan was third on the list.

Asked about the neutrality of the Election Commission of India, 16.8% of the people said that they believed the ECI was acting in a fair manner. Around 70.5% of the people felt that it was not neutral.

Also, 93% of total respondents said that the BJP was controlling the State government. Around 59% felt that the Edappadi K. Palaniswami government must immediately resign, and fresh elections must be held.
