Dindigul records pass percentage of 92.97 and Theni 90.87

Government schools perform well in both districts

Pass percentage in the SSLC examinations has gone up in Theni and Dindigul districts this year, thanks to the good performance by students in government schools.

The pass percentage in Dindigul was 92.97, 3.13 per cent increase over last year’s pass percentage of 89.84. Dindigul secured 21st rank in the State in overall pass percentage.

Of the 28,737 students who sat for the exams, 26,718 students passed in the exams in Dindigul.

Four students got full marks in language, 49 in English, 668 in Maths, 2,421 in Science (and 1,360 in Social Science.Government schools performed extremely well in the district.

Government higher secondary schools in Agaram, Karisalpatti, Komanampatti, Ulupagudi, Meenakshinaickenpatti, Thadikombu, Sirumalaipudhur, Marunoothu, Siluvathur, Manakkattur, E. Avarampatti, Thoppampatti, Servaikaranpatti, Manjanaickenpatti, Kariyampatti, Kanakkanpatti, Kokkarakkalvalasu, Kavunji (upper Kodaikanal hill), R.P. Pillamanaickenpatti, Chinnakaratupatti, Kaveriammapatti, Koothampoondi, Perichipalayam, Usilampati, Viruthalaipatti, Chellakuttiyur, Nallamanarkottai, Devinaickanpatty, Puliyamarathukottai, Poolathur and Porulur achieved full pass.

Over 50 government schools achieved a pass percentage of more than 90.

Home boy excels

M. Vijay of Sowbaghya Home of Gandhigram Trust and student of Thambithottam HSS, Chinnalapatti, scored 482 marks. He scored centum in Maths, 99 in Science and 94 in Tamil. His ambition was to study medicine. Congratulating the boy, Trust secretary K. Sivakumar said the home and school would take care of his further education.

His brother Ajay was studying in a polytechnic college in Oddanchatram.

The brothers, hailing from Valayapatti near Palamedu in Madurai, were abandoned by their relatives after the sudden death of their parents. Vijay was staying in the home since 2012.

Trust’s Santhi School team helped the differently abled students and students in Avvai Ashram achieve cent percent result.

Theni

The pass percentage in the district was 90.87, a 3.21 per cent increase over last year’s pass percentage of 87.66.

Theni secured 24th rank in the State in overall pass percentage.

Of the total 18,319 students who appeared for the exams, 16,646 students passed. Sixty schools, including 13 government schools, achieved full pass.

With 492 marks, Rajeshwari of Kondamanaickenpatti Government HSS emerged as the topper among government school students in the district.

Priyanka of Thamarikulam Govt. HSS, Yuvan Shankar of Vadugapatti Govt. HSS, Meharaj Begam of Cumbum Govt. HSS became the second rank holders with 491 marks, and Bala Vaishnavi of Andipatti Govt. School and Janani of Lakshmipuram Govt. School were the third toppers with 490 marks.
