The alleged involvement of AIADMK deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran in the bribery attempt case, in which a person had been arrested in New Delhi, was an insult to Tamil Nadu, Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan said here on Monday.

Inaugurating road works, undertaken with Central funds, in Melpuram and Kaliyakkavilai, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the Election Commission of India should take stern action against political parties and leaders indulging in distribution of cash for votes.

He said the all-party meeting convened by the DMK was aimed at forming an alliance for the general election and not for the welfare of farmers. The poor functioning of the State government in the recent past indicated that Tamil Nadu was heading for an emergency, Mr. Radhakrishnan said.

The Minister inaugurated 10 road works, at an estimated cost of ₹25.98 crore, in Kanniyakumari district on Monday. He had allocated ₹63.30 crore for relaying 48 State and district roads in the district for 2016-17.
