Director General of Police S.K. Gautam exhorted police personnel to continuously update their skills in various fields to combat growing challenges from criminals.

He was speaking at the passing out parade of 22nd batch of Recruit Police Constables in Gorimedu here on Friday.

Criminals are getting smarter day by day and acquiring latest techniques and technologies in committing crimes. In view of the spurt in financial and cyber crimes, police personnel should continuously update their technological skills to tackle such crimes. The learning process should not be stopped, he said.

The Police Training School (PTS) has imparted the basic skills and now the onus is on the RPCs to develop these skills on a continuous basis to enable them to face the challenges in the job. Exhorting the RPCs to discharge duties with utmost dedication and commitment, Mr. Gautam said there was no place for mismanagement or misbehaviour in the police force.

“We should also treat everybody equally in the eyes of law and should not unduly show any favour or disfavour towards any individuals. The police personnel should also be polite and patient towards the complainant and instil confidence in the minds of people,” Mr. Gautam added.

The Police Department is also in the forefront of handling young people who have gone astray or using illegal substances. Our work has greatly helped other departments in following up these cases to promote harmony in families and communities.

During the course of their training, the RPCs including 28 men and six women were trained in various aspects, including parade, major and minor laws, arms and lathi drill, firing, crowd control, weapon training, traffic control, driving, first aid, and basics in computer.

An impressive passing out parade was held on Police grounds in which the DGP S.K. Gautam, took the salute. Senior Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Apoorva Gupta and SPs were present.
