A fast by ruling party members and a ‘rail roko’ agitation by the opposition parties condemning the Union government for not setting up the Cauvery Management Board passed off peacefully on Tuesday.

While Sriperumbudur MLA K. Palani of the AIADMK observed the fast with his senior party office-bearers in Kancheepuram, the DMK MLAs, K. Sundar representing Uthiramerur, M. Varalakshmi representing Chengalpattu, S. Pugazhenthi representing Madurantakam and R.T. Arasu representing Cheyyur Assembly segments led the ‘rail roko’ demonstrations at Wallajahbad, Chengalpattu, Madurantakam and Melmaruvathur.
