The city — and its history, heritage, sights and sounds — took the centre stage at the 7th edition of the Murugappa Madras Quotient Quiz, an inter-school competition organised by the Murugappa Group as a part of the Madras Week Celebrations at St Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School on Saturday.

The team from PSBB Senior Secondary School, Nungambakkam, comprising Sudharshan Madhavan, Akshaya Mohan and Akash Kishore, emerged the winners. From questions about the Masula boats which were used in Madras, to playing the theme of AVM productions and a round that had students giving directions to popular landmarks, quizmaster Navin Jayakumar had the participants delve deep into various facets of the city.

Speaking about their experience, Akshaya, a member of the winning team, said that they had learnt a lot about the city while preparing for the quiz.

The team from P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore, comprising K. Guhan , K.S. Abhishek and N. Dhanush were the first runners-up and the team from PSBB Senior Secondary School, K.K. Nagar, with Nithin Karthic, R. Visveswaran and Sashee Kiran Raman were second runners-up. Teams from Vidya Mandir, Mylapore, AMM Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Chettinad Vidyashram also made it to the finals.
