Cyclone warning issued

Long-distance cyclone warning signal (stage three) was raised at Pamban port on Monday evening following a bulletin from Indian Meteorological Department that the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is likely to cross the coast between Pamban and Nagapattinam on Tuesday.

As the bulletin warned squally winds, with a velocity of up to 70 km per hour, along and off the coast, fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea on Tuesday.

Thoothukudi

Local cautionary signal 1 was hoisted at V.O. Chidambaranar Port in Thoothukudi on Monday.

However, normal activities at the port continued as usual.

Rainfall was predicted for the next 48 hours.
