Cuddalore achieves over 83 pass percentage

The Cuddalore district has greatly improved upon its results in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations this year by scoring 83.71 pass percentage against last year’s 75.21 per cent, a rise of 8.5 per cent.

The government schools in the district have performed well. Of the total number of 38,385 students 32,121 came out successfully.

Four _ S. Indhulekha of St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Cuddalore, K. Kiruba and G. Subhashini of Nirmala Higher Secondary School, and G. Monica of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Vriddhachalam, have emerged as district toppers by scoring 498 out of 500.

The second place is shared by six students (497) _ K. Greash of Krishnasamy HSS, Cuddalore, R.Harini Nivetha of CKS Matriculation.Highers Secondary School, Cuddalore, P. Lakshmipriya of John Dewey School, Panruti, I.Nithyasri of Nirmala HSS, Chidambaram R. Praveen Raj of VET Higher Secondary School, Erumanur, and K. Santhosh Krishnan of Fatima Higher Secondary School,Vriddhachalam.

As many as 13 students have come third (496) _ M. Dharani of Government HSS, Chidambaram, C. Arun and M. Arunkumar of St.Antony’s HSS, Neyveli, R. Deepakala and S. Karthiga of St.Cluney HSS, Neyveli, I. Ponmozhi of Jawahar HSS, Neyveli, V. Bhavithra of Kamaraj HSS, Chidambaram, R.G. Harish of Bharathi HSS, Bhuvanagiri, S. Jansi Rani, J. Karthikeyan and S. Kirubakaran of Krishnasamy HSS, Cuddalore, and N. Manoj Raj and N. Venkatakrishnan of ARLM Higher Secondary School, Cuddalore.

District Collector R. Kirlosh Kumar felicitated a few of the top rankers who turned up at his Camp Office on Friday in the presence of Chief Educational Officer Joseph Antonyraj.

The Collector told the reporters that of the 285 schools in the district 100 schools attained cent per cent results.

Twenty-six government schools were among those schools that achieved such laurels.

The Chief Educational Officer (CEO) told The Hindu that K. Nivetha of Kotteri government school, hailing from a remote area, scored cent per cent in Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

The government school located at Vannankudikadu near Karuveppilankurichi in Vriddhachalam block that attained zero result last year was one among the 100 schools that scored cent per cent result this year.

Asked about the possibility of such a total transformation in academic achievements the CEO said that it was due to changes that were effected in the staff structure.

He noted that with the funding of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation minimum learning materials were printed and distributed among all the government school students.
