Three policemen in each station have been trained and steps have been taken to give computerised acknowledgement of complaints. The CCTNS has been brought in as part of modernisation of police force and is a scheme introduced under the national e-governance scheme. Fund has been allotted for the scheme in the eleventh five year plan. In Tamil Nadu, CCTNS is functioning in 1,482 police stations, 479 supervising offices, and 938 special branches. People can lodge complaints on the website: http://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in. In the first phase, CCTNS was introduced at Thiruvallur, Ariyalur, Sivaganga and Coimbatore on February 14, 2012. In these districts, First Information Reports and details of the cases are computerised and stored at the State Informatics Centre.
