Superintendent of Police G. Dharmaraj on Monday inaugurated the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) at Thanjavur East police station.
Later, he told presspersons that 49 police stations in the district have been linked under the CCTNS. Three policemen in each station have been trained and steps have been taken to give computerised acknowledgement of complaints. The CCTNS has been brought in as part of modernisation of police force and is a scheme introduced under the national e-governance scheme. Fund has been allotted for the scheme in the eleventh five year plan. In Tamil Nadu, CCTNS is functioning in 1,482 police stations, 479 supervising offices, and 938 special branches. People can lodge complaints on the website: http://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in. In the first phase, CCTNS was introduced at Thiruvallur, Ariyalur, Sivaganga and Coimbatore on February 14, 2012. In these districts, First Information Reports and details of the cases are computerised and stored at the State Informatics Centre.
Nagapattinam
Thirty-two police stations were integrated into the CCTNS in the district. CCTNS enhances the efficiency of policing and crime tracking with an integrated network and at once ensures transparency on the progress of the complaints filed.
The State has been allocated Rs.113 crore by the Centre for the purpose.
