Three Salem Corporation High Schools were among the 60 government high schools and higher secondary schools that secured 100 per cent pass in the SSLC public examinations, the results of which were released on Wednesday.
In the 2015 SSLC examinations, 51 schools had produced centum results. The Corporation High School at Puthumariammankoil street; the Corporation High School, Kitchipalayam; and Corporation High School, Old Suramangalam, registered 100 per cent results.
D. Santhosh of the Corporation Boys HS, Ammapettai, became the topper among the students of corporation schools by securing 492 marks. He secured 96 marks in Tamil, 98 in English, 99 in mathematics, 99 in science and 100 in social science.
Obu Krithiga of Corporation Girls Higher Secondary, Gugai, got 484 marks and finished second among the corporation school students. Logeswari, also of the same school, got 482 marks to finish third.
The achievement of some of the government schools is remarkable as they had sent a large number of students for the public examinations.
The Government Girls HSS, Mecheri, had sent a maximum of 259 girls for the public examinations and all of them came out successful, much to the delight of the education department officials, teachers and the parents. A total of 179 students – boys 100 and girls 79 – of The Government HSS, Deviyakurichi appeared for the examinations and all of them cleared the examinations. All the 131 students – boys 66 and girls 61 – of Government HSS, Thevur came out successful to bring laurels to the school. The Government HS, Manathal N. G. Patty (85 students), Government Model School, Edappadi (76), Government Boys HSS, Magudanchavadi (70), Government HS, Gopalapuram (68), Government HS, Vennanampatti (67), were the other government schools which brought out 100 per cent results.
The Salem Corporation is running 13 high schools and higher secondary schools in different parts of the city. A total of 1,346 boys and girls from these schools appeared for the SSLC examinations, of which 1,215 students came out successful.
Five government aided schools have secured centum results. St. Mary’s Girls Higher Secondary School, Mettur Dam sent a maximum of 376 girls to the examinations and secured 100 per cent pass percentage. The Sindu Hindu High School, Salem city; Montfort Anglo Indian HSS, Yercaud; Tippu Islamia HS, Salem; and Sacred Heart Anglo-Indian Girls HS, Yercaud were the other schools to get the magic 100 per cent figure.
