‘Convert Tiruchengode – Erode highway into a four lane road’

The Tiruchengode Lorry Owners Association has urged the State government to take steps for converting the Tiruchengode – Erode Highway into a four lane road.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the 54th annual general body meeting of the Association held here on Sunday.

The newly elected office-bearers of the association for the period 2016-19 assumed office on the occasion.

The Association through another resolution demanded the government to renovate all the by-pass roads and take steps for laying a ring road. They also urged the police to revise the timing for entry of heavy vehicles into the town.

N. P. Velu, outgoing president, presided over the function and Subramanian, out-going treasurer, presented the annual report. Somasundaram, vice-president of the election committee, installed Pari Ganesan as new president and his team of office-bearers, in the presence of K. S. Rangasamy, industrialist and chairman of the KSR Group of Educational Institutions.

Pon Saraswathi, MLA, who offered felicitations assured to take the demands of the association to the notice of the Minister concerned.

M. R. Kumarasamy, president of the Tamil Nadu Lorry Owners Federation, K. Nallathambi, former president of the Tamil Nadu Lorry Owners Federation, Vangili, president of the Namakkal Taluk Lorry Owners Association, Selvaraj, president, Sankagiri Lorry Owners Association and others offered felicitations.

Ravi, the new secretary, presented the resolutions.
