The Dindigul District-cum-Principal Sessions Court has granted conditional bail to six persons, including a dentist, in a wild animal hunting case reported at Oddanchatram in the district on Thursday.

On hearing the bail petition, Judge (in-charge) Sivakumar ordered the accused to sign at the Oddanchtram Magistrate Court at 10 a.m. every day. The conditional bail was granted to Shanmugavel of Suraikapatti, Easwaran of Oddanchatram, Ganesan of APP Nagar, Mohamad Issan of Lake Area in Madurai, Sultan Allavuddin of Subrahmaniyapuram in Madurai, and doctor Arun Christopher of Tirunelveli.

The police arrested them on a charge of hunting wild animals in Komalipatti forest beat in Oddanchatram forest range on July 23 and produced them before the court on Friday.

It also seized an imported gun from the doctor. Meanwhile, SI Siva Kumar had managed to escape.

The police appealed to the Tirunelveli Collector to cancel the licence of the doctor, following which he cancelled the licence.
