The District Consumer Redressal Forum has directed Sony’s authorised service centre here to pay a compensation of Rs. 2,000 to a mobile phone buyer for demanding Rs. 500 for setting right walkman cover damage within the warranty period.
According to D.A. Prabhakar, the petitioner’s counsel, K.G. Mr. Sankaranarayanan paid the amount and got the receipt for it. When the personnel expressed their inability to repair the damage within the stipulated period and asked him to pay Rs. 500 more, the aggrieved buyer filed a complaint with the District Consumer Redressal Forum.
