As part of creating awareness among all eligible voters of the importance of exercising their franchise, Collector S. Palanisamy took to paragliding on the shores here on Thursday. The exercise aimed at sensitising the voters across the district in general and the fishermen in particular.
The Collector said that a series of awareness programmes were organised in the district to ensure cent per cent polling under the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.
He appealed to fresh voters and college students to exercise their franchise without fail. Paragliding was also organised at Vedaranyam and Mayiladuthurai.
R. Kannan, Superintendent of Police, was present.
