Collector opens boating facility at Courtallam

Collector M. Karunakaran on Friday inaugurated boating facility at tank near the Old Falls at Courtallam to entertain tourists during the season.

In a statement, he said that the number of tourists visiting Courtallam had gone up. The district administration had been carrying out facilities for the benefit of the tourists and one among them was the boating facility.

Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, which has made the boating facility available, has introduced a total of 31 boats. Among them are 17 pedal boats to accommodate four persons, five pedal boats for two persons, five rowing boats for four persons, four rowing boats for individuals.

The following is the fare for a 30 minute boat ride: Rs. 100 for pedal boats for two persons, Rs. 125 for pedal boats for four persons, Rs. 75 for individual rowing boats and Rs. 155 for the rowing boats for four persons (for one round).

Mr. Karunakaran said that life jackets and buoys had been provided at the boating facility to safeguard the tourists. He asked the tourists to use them without fail.

Chairman for Tamil Nadu Housing Board, R. Murugaiah, Alangulam MLA, P.G. Rajendran, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Tenkasi), Aravindan, President of District Panchayat, Narayanaperumal, Chairperson of Courtallam Town Panchayat, Latha Ashok and Manager of TTDC, Ashokan, were among those who were present.
