Collector M. Karunakaran on Thursday inspected the ongoing development works being executed by District Rural Development Agency in Maanur union.

As Dr. Karunakaran had taken efforts for the release of funds to the tune of Rs. 87 lakh for construction of houses for 29 transgenders at Narasinganallur, foundation stone for this project was laid in February. Since construction of these houses was going on, he inspected the project and checked the quality of construction materials being used. The Collector asked the contractor to complete the construction within the stipulated period while ensuring superior quality. He then inspected construction of the anganvadi at Narasinganallur taken up under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Dr. Karunakaran also inspected the construction of a bus shelter at Suththamalli at a cost of Rs. 4 lakh. Project Director, DRDA, G. Arulmani, Assistant Executive Engineer Kumaresan and officials accompanied the Collector.
