Collector M. Karunakaran visited various parts of the city on Monday to assess the ongoing anti-dengue operations.

As sporadic dengue cases are being reported from a few parts of the district, Dr. Karunakaran is visiting the affected and other vulnerable areas.

When a 4-year-old boy from Uganthaanpatti died of mysterious fever, he, along with a team of officials, conducted indoor and outdoor fogging, sprinkling of bleaching powder in the stagnant water etc. in the village.

Moreover, he also inspected the hamlets bordering Rajapalayam, which is witnessing the outbreak of “viral fever” that has already claimed a few lives.

Dr. Karunakaran was accompanied by Tirunelveli MLA Nainar Nagenthran, Corporation Commissioner R. Lakshmi and other senior officials of the urban local body. He asked the officials to conduct fogging operations in sustained manner in all parts of the civic body to avert the possible outbreak.

The Collector also told the officials to take steps for draining the stagnant rainwater.
