Collector discusses monsoon preparedness with officials

Issues a series of preventive steps such as removal of encroachments

Collector A. Gnanasekaran has held discussions with officials on the precautionary measures need to be taken to prevent the damage during southwest monsoon.

At the meeting held at the Collectorate on Thursday, Mr. Gnanasekaran asked officials to ensure encroachments made on the water bodies, inlets and canals evicted and sand bags kept ready.

Ponds and tanks must be desilted. Schools, colleges and marriage halls should be ready to be occupied in case of emergency.

Mechanised wood cutters

Mechanised wood cutters for removing trees that may fall across the roads should be kept ready. Mobile medical vans with drugs should be ready. Damaged electrical posts and electric cables should be repaired. Fire and rescue services should keep itself ready for eventualities, he said.
