In one of the rare incidents in the Assembly, certain remarks made by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami in the House a day before were expunged by Speaker P. Dhanapal on Saturday, as urged by DMK leader and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin.

Soon after the House sat on Saturday, Mr. Stalin referred to certain remarks made by the Chief Minister about some protesters and urged that they be removed from the Assembly records. Meanwhile, the Chair expunged certain remarks made by Mr. Stalin.

After a nod from the Chief Minister, the Chair expunged the remarks made by him on Friday and Mr. Stalin over the issue on Friday.

However, later in the day, Prohibition Minister P. Thangamani referred to a protest against a State-run liquor shop by a seven-year-old boy in Kancheepuram district and contended that the boy’s father made the boy protest “for publicity in the media.” The Minister further said that the Chief Minister was not making any generalisation.
