The Transport Commissioner in Puducherry has taken an initiative to check the fitness and condition of the autorickshaws, public and private transport buses for the safety of the passengers, apart from issuing fitness certificate once a year, which is useful for the safety of school going children and senior citizens.
In order to spread the message of 'Swachh Bharat' it is requested that public transport vehicles display stickers which say, 'Don't smoke', 'Don't spit' and 'Don't stick posters' so as to educate the public to keep every vehicle and bus stop clean.

Kallakurichi needs paddy research centre
More number of modernised rice mills are located in Kallakurichi, Chinnasalem, Sankarapuram, Rishivandiyam and Kachirapalayam because of high production of paddy. Farmers of Tirukkovilur, Villupuram, Virudhachalam, Thiruvannamalai, Polur, Kalasapakkam, Arni, Vandavasi, Cheyyar and other places cultivate paddy. I request the authorities to incept a Paddy Research Centre in Kallakurichi for the sake of farmers of Villupuram, Cuddalore and Thiruvannamalai.

Education department a model
It is heartening to see people-friendly instructions issued by the Director of School Education while calling for applications to posts of lecturers in higher secondary schools in Puducherry. The announcement that only candidates selected provisionally need to produce nationality/nativity/residence and community certificates certainly has helped applicants avoid hassles of getting them from the Revenue Department at the time of applying.
It was notified that self-attested copies of documents could be submitted.
The Director of School Education needs to be commended for avoiding hardship to aspiring candidates and also relieving Revenue Department from the pressure of issuing above said certificates to all candidates applying for the posts. Will the heads of other departments emulate this trend set by the official while filling up vacancies in their respective departments?
