Class XI girl murdered

A Class XI girl was murdered at Periyamanali village in Tiruchengode Taluk here on Thursday.

The victim was studying in Government Higher Secondary School in the same area. On Thursday, she left for school to write her examination in the afternoon in her bicycle. But she did not reach the school. Teachers informed her parents about her absence.

Her father came in search of her and found her bicycle near a hut.

He found her dead. The police was informed who rushed to the spot. Initial inquiries pointed out that she was strangulated to death.

The police said that a rig driver in the area along two others could have committed the crime.

Superintendent of Police S.R. Senthil Kumar who visited the spot told The Hindu that there are no symptoms of rape, however, only post-mortem could reveal further details.

The body was taken to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The police have picked up one person for questioning. Elachipalayam police are investigating.
