SASTRA University, Thanjavur, has clarified in response to the news report: 'SASTRA University directed to return certificates, fee to student', in these columns on June 18 that it has already replied to the MHRD letter and written to the parents asking them to collect the TC before April 30, 2011.

The university was moving for restoration of the ex-parte order passed by the District Consumer Forum, S.Vaidhyasubramaniam, Dean – Planning & Development, said, adding that the university was not bound to answer to Mr. Pushpavanam's letters as he had "threatened the university officials". "During 2010-11 admissions, 302 students withdrew and tuition fees & TC were given to all of them without any delay and to 338 & 236 students in the previous two years. This clearly demonstrates our genuine intentions," Dr.Vaidhyasubramaniam said.
