Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s assets worth Rs. 113.72 crore

Apart from those in race to be CM, 775 others also filed papers on Monday

AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa and DMK president M. Karunanidhi were among the 778 candidates who filed their nominations on Monday for the May 16 Assembly polls.

Ms. Jayalalithaa, surrounded by party seniors and ministers, filed her nomination at R. K. Nagar, post noon.

According to the affidavits, Ms. Jayalalithaa’s assets are worth Rs 113.72 crore and that of Mr. Karunanidhi alone is Rs 13.92 crore. He has only Rs 50,000 cash in hand. (The assets of his wives have not been accounted here.)

At Pennagaram, the PMK’s Chief Ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss filed his papers.

Among the prominent DMK candidates who filed their nomination on Monday were former Speaker R. Avudaiappan (Ambasamudram), former whip R. Sakkarapani (Oddanchatram) and former Ministers Poongothai Aladi Aruna (Alangulam), KKSSR Ramachandran (Aruppukkottai), K.R. Periakaruppan (Tiruppattur), K.N. Nehru (Tiruchirappalli West), K. Ponmudy (Tirukkoyilur) and K. Pitchandi (Kilpennathur).
