Chennai realtor hacked to death

A Chennai-based real estate businessman was hacked to death by a three-member group in broad daylight near the National Highway toll plaza at Paranur, near Chengalpattu, on Thursday.

Avinesh Babu, 52, of Gandhi Colony in Anna Nagar was travelling to Ginjee in Villupuram district in his car, driven by Dineshkumar, 29. After paying the fee and getting past the toll plaza, Avinesh asked his driver to slow down near the road margins. He stepped outside the vehicle to have tender coconut when he was surrounded by three assailants on a motorcycle, the Kancheepuram district police said.

The three men pulled out knives and attacked him. Avinesh Babu was killed on the spot. The assailants, who were wearing full-face helmets, sped away. The incident took place around 1.15 p.m.
