Governor Banwarilal Purohit called upon the police departments in all the States to come together to check the threat to national security.

The Governor was delivering the inaugural address at the 61st All India Police Duty Meet at the Tamil Nadu Police Academy, Unamancheri, on Saturday.

The Governor said that threats to national security had increased. “The police forces, across the country, need to collaborate continuously to foil the evil designs of criminals and anti-nationals,” he added.

The criminals, who had become sophisticated now, operated beyond the borders of any State. The police had to be abreast of the latest technology, he said.

Lauds initiatives

Lauding the initiatives such as setting up of the All Women Police Station, highway patrolling, police youth brigade and coastal security group of the Tamil Nadu Police, the Governor said the formation of Tamil Nadu Women Commando Force had made the women feel empowered and secure.

Later, he declared open the All India Police Duty Meet. Nearly 1,500 participants from 21 States and four Union Territory police departments and seven Central Armed Forces are taking part in various test of skills under six heads relating to crime detection.
