A resolution adopted to this effect at the executive committee meeting of the Association held in the city on Saturday commended the political parties for passing the much awaited GST Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

The economy of the country would get a further boost by GST and the cascading effect of different taxes on the goods and services would be removed, the resolution said.

The Association has offered its services to train the officials of the State Commercial Taxes Department in the implementation of the GST if the State Government sought its help in this regard.

Another resolution, congratulated S. Sri Ram of Salem city, the topper of All India Chartered Accountants Final Examinations, the results of which were released recently.

The meeting called upon the banks not to accept the financial statements signed by un-qualified persons.

The meeting also passed resolutions favouring necessary steps for increasing the opportunities for Chartered Accountants in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
