The gold chain of a 39-year-old woman was snatched at J.J. Nagar on Saturday.

A CCTV clip of the incident went viral on social networks and mobile messaging platforms.

Sumitra runs a mobile phone shop in Mogappair and her daughter is a student of the Little Star school in J.J. Nagar East.

She was on Thiruvalluvar Road along with her daughter around 3 p.m. on Friday when a duo on a high-end bike followed her.

The pillion rider snatched Ms. Sumitra’s chain, and the duo managed to escape even before the woman could shout for help. On receiving information, police personnel from the J.J. Nagar police station conducted investigations.

The visuals retrieved from CCTV cameras nearby provided vital clues about the suspects.

The police are on the lookout for the culprits.
