Chain snatched from two women

An unidentified person on Wednesday snatched a chain weighing about 50 gm worn by Brindha (58) of Om Sakthi Nagar when she came to her tailoring shop on Trichy Road around 11 a.m.

He came to her seeking direction to an address. He drank water from her water bottle, and while returning the bottle he snatched the chain, got onto a motor cycle kept ready by his accomplice, and fled the scene.

Two unidentified persons on a motor bike snatched a chain weighing about 50 gm of Rama Bhai (61), a native of Srirangam in Tiruchi, at Periyar Nagar near Vadavalli on Wednesday. The incident occurred when the woman came to her brother’s house at Periyar Nagar, and was on way to a grocery shop nearby.

Bus roof fly away

The roof of a moving TNSTC bus plying on Gandhipuram-Sivananda Colony route flew away on Wednesday when the bus was near the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. No one was injured in the incident.

Two arrested

The police have taken to custody Jigin (20), and Appu (20), both hailing from Palakkad, for trying to lure students stating that they would get admissions to colleges. They were working for a Palakkad-based agency that arranges admissions to colleges, the police said.

Road blocked

Residents of Arivoli Nagar, near Mettupalayam, on Thursday blocked Sirumugai Road on Wednesday demanding that they be supplied drinking water on a regular basis. They said that they were getting water once in 10 days.
