Demanding a CBI enquiry into the suicide of Agricultural Engineering Department Executive Engineer S. Muthukumarasamy, members of Tamil Nadu Saiva Vellala Sangam observed a fast at Jawahar Grounds, Palayamkottai, on Sunday.

They were led by sangam president Kasi Viswanathan.

Speakers said the CB-CID, which was investigating the case, had failed to identify the culprits who forced the “honest officer” to take the extreme step of committing suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train at Thatchanallur on February 20.

Hence, the case should be handed over to the CBI, they said.
