Car festival held

A large number of devotees participated in the Chithirai car festival at the Sri Ugrakadhali Laskhmi Narasimha Perumal Temple in Thammampatti town which commenced on Sunday. The car festival was held after a gap of seven years.

The festival commenced with the hoisting of holy flag on April 25. The presiding deity was taken tiruveedhi ula on Simma vahanam, Hanumantha vahanam, Garuda vahanam, Sesha vahanam, yaanai vahanam, Kudirai vahanam daily.

The devotees pulled the decorated car through the main streets on Sunday evening. Later it was halted midway at 6 p.m. The devotees continued pulling the car on Monday too and was brought back to stage. The festival will conclude on Tuesday with Satharaparana programme.
