Cancer screening unit to be set up in Pudukottai

The Thilagavathiar Tiruvarul Adheenam in co-ordination with the Adyar Cancer Institute, Adyar, will set up a cancer screening centre in Pudukottai as a mark of tribute to Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy, the founder of the Institute who hailed from Pudukottai district, said Dayananda Chandrasekara Swamigal, Head of the Thilagavathiar Tiruvarul Adheenam here on Saturday.

Speaking at a function to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy, who hailed from the district, he said that the Adyar Cancer Institute had also expressed its assurance to extend maximum cooperation for setting up the centre.

Tributes were paid by speakers to Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy. D. Parimala Devi, Dean and Special Officer of Government Medical College and Hospital, distributed sewing machines to women below poverty line.
