Autorickshaws demand higher fare as buses were stopped near Tamil Nadu border in Krishnagiri district on Thursday .

Bus services to and from Andhra Pradesh came to a halt and buses were stopped near the Tamil Nadu border in Krishnagiri district on Thursday. This was in the wake of a call for bandh in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday given by the YSR Congress, Telugu Desam and a few other organisations ahead of the introduction of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in the Parliament on Thursday.

Sources in TNSTC and APSRTC said that buses were stopped from 6 in the morning to prevent untoward incidents.

The official said that the bus services were operated up to Nadumur, five km inside the Andhra border from Krishnagiri so as to help the people to go to Kuppam for Medical College Hospital. As many as seven TNSTC bus services were being operated to Nadumur village in Andhra Pradesh from Krishnagiri and the APSRTC also plying 2 buses between Krishnagiri and Nadumur.

To prevent share autorickshaws from taking advantage of the situation and fleecing the people, buses were operated between Kuppam and Kali Koil and up to Nadumur village, said P.T. Damodaran, Depot Manager, APSRTC in Kuppam.
