Burglars decamp with cash

Burglars broke into a house of K. Annamalai (55) of Naduvulur in Gangavalli here on Tuesday night and decamped with Rs. 25,000. However, the 100 sovereign gold jewellery kept in old vessels in the house were unnoticed by them.

The incident occurred when Annamalai had left for Chennai where is wife was working as assistant engineer at electricity board and their son working at a private company. After returning on Tuesday night, he found the almirah broken and cash missing. On Wednesday, the Gangavalli police was informed. Finger print experts were also pressed into service. A new two-wheeler belonging to Kumar of the same area was also missing. The police said that burglars might have taken away the vehicle also. Cases have been registered and investigations are on.
