Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Treasurer and former Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has appealed to people to support the party candidates in the local body elections to bring about a ‘behavioural change' in the government headed by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
People sought change in the Assembly elections, but five months on, it was only disappointment that loomed large in their midst now. All welfare schemes of the previous DMK Government, including its health insurance and housing schemes, have been shelved by the AIADMK government, he charged while campaigning for the local body elections here on Sunday. Mr. Stalin alleged that the police were being used by the government for foisting cases on DMK functionaries, former Ministers and MLAs. There was an increase in custodial deaths, he claimed. The “authoritarian” approach of the Chief Minister was evident in the fact that in less than five months of the Assembly elections, the alliance parties had fallen out with the AIADMK. He campaigned at Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Tharangambadi and Nagapattinam.
